The SBU and the Navy destroyed a Russian ammunition depot on the Kinburn Spit in a joint operation.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Navy on its Telegram channel.
According to the Navy, a precision strike resulted in a powerful explosion and secondary detonation of ammunition. The Kinburn Spit is a narrow peninsula that controls sea access to Mykolaiv and key shipping lanes in the Black Sea. Control of this area is important for the security of Ukrainian logistics and the prevention of enemy attacks on coastal infrastructure.
The Ukrainian Navy emphasized that coordinated operations with the SBU continue to be aimed at disrupting supply chains, logistics facilities and ammunition depots in the occupied territories, reducing Russia's ability to support offensive operations.
Earlier, an official of the Ochakiv City Council was investigated for passing on intelligence.
In Mykolaiv, the trial of Eduard Shevchenko, the former commander of the 73rd Marine Center of the SSO, who is suspected of high treason and passing classified data to Russia, is underway. The prosecution links him to attempts to recruit the mayor of Ochakiv and disclose information about the arrival of a British warship in Odesa.
At one of the sessions, the court considered the episode with the arrival of a British warship in Odesa in December 2018. According to the prosecution, Shevchenko informed Russian agents about it. The defendant himself denies guilt, calling the accusations "nonsense that was molded into a case in a few days."
Prosecutor Anton Malyuk announced the results of an open-source check : Ukrainian and British media publications confirm that the British reconnaissance ship did indeed arrive in Odesa. However, Shevchenko's lawyer, Oleksandr Gerasymov, noted that this does not prove his client's involvement.
