Mykolaiv region punishes commander for drunkenness on duty: what was the sentence?

In Mykolaiv region, a court has sentenced an officer of an artillery division who was found to be intoxicated on duty.

This became known from the ruling of the Snihuriv District Court of Mykolaiv Oblast.

According to the case file, on December 31, 2024, in the base camp of one of the military units of Mykolaiv region, the deputy commander of a self-propelled artillery division was on duty in a state of intoxication. The man refused to undergo a medical examination that could confirm or deny his state of intoxication.

According to the current legislation, military personnel are obliged to perform their duties in good faith and to observe discipline, especially in the conditions of the special period that has been in force in Ukraine since 2014. Being drunk while on duty is a gross violation of the Charter of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

At the trial, the serviceman pleaded guilty in full and asked that the case be considered without his participation.

The judge imposed a fine of UAH 17,000 on the accused. In addition, the offender was ordered to pay UAH 605 in court fees.

The court noted that if the fine is not paid within the prescribed period, the amount will double, and the costs of enforcement will be charged.

A scandalous case occurred withJudge Lyudmyla Saltan ofthe Kyiv District Court of Odesa, who was removed from the bench in 2023 for allegedly extorting a bribe. The judge was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but the military unit complained about her because of her drinking.

Recently, the Chief of Staff of a military unit in Mykolaiv region was notified of suspicion for unjustified payments to military personnel who did not participate in hostilities.

In addition, in Mykolaiv region, a serviceman of the CCC and JV was served a notice of suspicion. He demanded a bribe for assistance in avoiding mobilization.
