Military to be tried in Odesa region for helping friend to serve fictitiously

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation, in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine, have completed a pre-trial investigation into a former commander of a military unit in Odesa region who enlisted his friend for fictitious service in his unit.
This was reported by the SBI press service.
At the end of 2022, the official, in order to help his friend with mobilization, unreasonably enrolled him as a mechanic in his military unit. For more than six months, the comrade received payments while he actually continued to run his business in the back.
Thanks to the SBI's principled position, the offenders were exposed. Currently, the damages have been fully compensated to the state.
The official is charged with abuse of office (Part 1 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The indictment has been sent to court. The sanction of the article provides for a sentence of up to three years in prison.
