Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation and Internal Security of the State Border Guard Service detained the head of a group of one of the law enforcement agencies of Odesa region on suspicion of organizing a channel for the illegal transportation of conscripts across the state border to Moldova.

This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.

After the beginning of the full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation, the defendant himself tried to illegally leave for Moldova to avoid mobilization, but failed. Subsequently, he joined a law enforcement agency, but instead of performing his official duties, he organized an illegal business.

Using his knowledge of the border area and patrolling routes, the official set up a channel for illegal border crossings. He involved his own mother in the criminal activity, who negotiated with potential clients and gave them instructions on where, when and how to bypass border patrols and checkpoints on foot.

The cost of such services was USD 6 thousand per person. According to preliminary data, the criminals managed to smuggle at least three fugitives. On June 17, 2025, the law enforcement officer and his mother were detained while receiving another tranche of USD 6 thousand.

The suspects were served with a notice of suspicion of organizing illegal transportation of persons across the state border committed for mercenary motives by a group of persons (Article 332 (3) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The procedural supervision in the criminal proceedings is carried out by the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region.

The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to 9 years.
