Kherson resident worked in an occupation detention center and tortured prisoners

The Kherson City Court found Mykola Strynadko, who worked in an illegal detention center created by the occupation authorities in the Kherson region, guilty of collaboration.
This became known from the court' s verdict .
The investigation found that in July 2022, Strynadka took a position in the occupation Dariivka Penal Colony No. 10, and later became the next assistant head of the Detention Center No. 1 of the occupation penitentiary service in Kherson region.
Testimonies confirm that he not only controlled the access control and the daily routine of detainees, but also participated in cell searches and torture of prisoners. One of the witnesses said that he saw Strynadko in an occupation uniform with a baton, handcuffs and a gas canister, and heard him boast about his good salary and excellent working conditions.
The sentence was passed in absentia, as the collaborator is currently hiding in the territory of the Russian Federation and is wanted. The actual serving of the sentence will begin from the moment of his detention.
The traitor faces 13 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property under Part 7 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The man was also deprived of the special rank of "Major of Internal Service" and banned from holding public office for 15 years.
The SBU exposed a 40-year-old traitor who collaborated with Russian occupiers during the temporary occupation of Kherson.
According to the investigation, the offender took the position of a "junior inspector of the security department's supervision group" in the so-called "Northern Correctional Colony No. 90", which the occupiers set up in Kherson. In particular, the Russians deployed a torture chamber on the basis of the colony.
While holding this position, the defendant served as a guard, controlling the cells in which Ukrainians - members of the resistance movement - were illegally detained. After the de-occupation of the city, the collaborator tried to hide to avoid punishment, but was identified and detained by the SBU right in Kherson.
The offender was served a notice of suspicion under Part 7 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (cooperation). He is currently in custody. He faces up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
