Irish journalist makes a movie about murdered farmer from Kherson region

Irish journalist Kailin Robertson has created a documentary dedicated to the story of the deceased farmer from Kherson region, Oleksandr Hordiyenko.
This became known from his YouTube channel.
After hearing about the murder of the farmer, Robertson decided to go to his land to make a film about his legacy. The journalist emphasized the importance of covering life in the region from the inside:
"Most of the news about Kherson focuses on drone attacks on civilians in the city center, so I thought it was important to show the topic from the inside, in the smallest detail. Farmers in this region have experienced real horrors: first the occupation, then mining, drought, and now FPV drone attacks," the media personality noted.
The deceased Oleksandr Gordienko was the head of the Kherson Oblast Farmers' Association, a member of the Kherson Oblast Council and a farm owner with over 30 years of experience. He was killed on September 5 when his car, in which he was working in the field, was attacked by Russian troops.
After the de-occupation of the right bank of the Kherson region, the farmer was actively engaged in de-mining the fields. To protect his employees and equipment from constant attacks by Russian drones, he purchased electronic warfare devices and anti-drone rifles. In May 2025, Oleksandr Gordienko told a live broadcast that Kherson farmers grow bread in extreme conditions, going to the fields with REBs to shoot down enemy drones.
Later, the daughter of the deceased farmer asked that her father be awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine. He had single-handedly cleared thousands of hectares of mines and shot down more than 200 Russian drones, saving equipment and workers during the war.
According to his daughter, after the de-occupation of the right bank of the Kherson region, her father single-handedly cleared thousands of hectares of fields, removing more than 5,000 anti-tank mines, and saved equipment and workers from shelling. Hordiienko actively countered enemy drones, using electronic warfare and even shooting them down with a rifle. During the war, he eliminated more than 200 Russian drones, for which the locals called him "Farmer Rambo."
