Imam from Alushta, convicted by the occupiers, returned home

Illegally sentenced to 18 years in prison, the imam from Alushta Lenur Khalilov was released from the colony for health reasons. He was diagnosed with cancer, after which the prisoner was taken home to Crimea.
This was reported by Crimean Tatar human rights defender and activist Mumine Salieva on her Facebook page.
According to Khalilov's wife Umida Khudoyberdieva, her husband was diagnosed with cancer in the hospital of the colony in Arkhangelsk. On the basis of this diagnosis, which is included in the list of diseases that prevent detention, the Isakogorsk District Court of Arkhangelsk decided to release him.
After his release, the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service bought him train tickets and he returned to his family in Crimea.
Let us remind you that 57-year-old Lenur Khalilov was detained by Russian security forces on June 10, 2019, after searches. He, along with three other Crimean Tatars, was charged with belonging to the Islamic political partyHizb ut-Tahrir, which is banned in Russia. In 2021, he was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
Meanwhile, Smedlyaev, a defendant in the case of Crimean Muslims , was deprived of medical care in a pre-trial detention center. The information was made public in a letter from the Crimean Tatar to his wife, Linise Smedlyaeva. According to the Crimean Solidarity, before his arrest, Smedlyaev did not have time to treat his tooth, but the prison hospital refused to treat him. He was also not allowed to visit an ophthalmologist. The administration of SIZO-2 responded to his application: "It is not allowed".
Smedlyayeva reported that her husband was diagnosed with myopic astigmatism of the right eye and myopia of the left eye before his imprisonment . His glasses broke shortly before his arrest, and he is not given eye drops. According to her, the political prisoner has severe eye pain. The wife appealed to the administration of SIZO-2 with a request to provide medical assistance. The head of the detention center said that her application had been forwarded to the medical unit.
