The head of an Odesa-based company that employs sailors on fishing and merchant vessels was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property for treason.

This was reported by the press service of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors proved that the convict voluntarily agreed to cooperate with the Russian Federation's special services and passed intelligence on Ukrainian defense positions and critical infrastructure to the enemy.

In particular, the agent sent the coordinates of the location of the personnel of the Defense Forces, the positions of air defense missile systems, seaport facilities and the Odesa Regional Radio and Television Transmission Center - Odesa TV Tower.

In return, he hoped to get a senior position in the occupation administration of the seaport in case the city was captured.

For unimpeded inspection and photographic recording of the objects, he used the cover documents provided to him by the representative of the Russian Federal Security Service - a certificate of a member of a public organization, a controller of the infoxvodokanal and a journalist.

In May 2024, he was exposed and detained. During the search, a cell phone with evidence of intelligence and subversive activities in favor of Russia was seized.

SBU cyber specialists also detained two residents of Odesa on suspicion of cooperation with the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.

The SBU intercepted a telephone conversation in which a man was receiving a task from his supervisor, a staff member of a Russian game.

During the briefing, the enemy intelligence officer identified priority targets for his accomplice to engage. Among them are air defense positions and reserve command posts of Ukrainian troops defending Odesa and the Black Sea.
