Doctor and railway worker detained in Odesa on suspicion of spying for Russia

SBU cyber specialists detained two residents of Odesa on suspicion of cooperation with the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Federation Armed Forces.
According to the SBU press service, the detainees acted in pairs and corrected the aggressor's attacks on the Ukrainian military in the South.
According to the case file, a 61-year-old rehabilitation therapist was collecting intelligence. In order to prepare more information for the Nazis, she engaged her friend, a 36-year-old former employee of Ukrzaliznytsia, to cooperate.
The SBU intercepted a telephone conversation in which the man received a task from his curator, a staff member of a Russian game.
During the briefing, the enemy intelligence officer identified priority targets for his accomplice to engage. These included air defense positions and reserve command posts of Ukrainian troops defending Odesa and the Black Sea.
The occupiers also tried to hit the freight trains of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. To do this, Russian agents had to obtain schedules of military trains and the geolocation of their stops at transit stations.
As for the tasks of the rehabilitation doctor, under the guise of working with military patients, the woman was veiledly asking them about the locations of the Defense Forces.
Also, under the instruction of the curator, both agents walked around the city and its surroundings, where they recorded potential targets on a phone camera.
The SBU cyber specialists documented every step of the suspects and detained them at their place of residence. At the same time, the SBU took comprehensive measures to secure the locations of Ukrainian troops.
SBU investigators served the agents a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).
The offenders are in custody without the right to be released on bail. They face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
