Crimean Tatar political prisoner Belyalov was transferred to Karelia

Crimean Tatar activist Memet Belyalov, sentenced to 18 years, was transferred to a colony in Karelia (Russia). He was placed in a cell with strict conditions of detention, and his family has no contact with him.
This was reported by the President's Office in the AR of Crimea.
On July 11, Belyalov was taken from the colony in the Novgorod region. For a long time, his family did not know where he went. Only at the end of July he was able to report that he was in Veliky Novgorod, but did not know his final destination.
Recently, the family received a letter from Memet, in which he said that he had been transferred to colony No. 9 in Petrozavodsk. There he was immediately placed in a barrack with strict conditions. According to his mother, he is not allowed to make phone calls, and letters from him are not received. "He said: 'Mom, I sent you several letters. You don't answer,' and I say: 'I haven't received a single letter from you,'" said Zekiye Belyalova.
Memet Belyalov is an activist of the Crimean Solidarity NGO. He was detained on October 11, 2017 in Bakhchisarai along with other Crimean Tatars. They were accused of involvement in the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir*, which is banned in Russia but operates legally in Ukraine.
On September 16, 2020, a court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Crimean Tatars to long prison terms. Memet Belyalov was sentenced to 18 yearsin prison.
The defendant in the "Crimean Muslims case" is being held in a pre-trial detention center. Abdulvapov noted that his heart problems began even before the stage when he was in prison in the city of Verkhnouralsk, and during the attacks of chest pain he was in unbearable pain. Ametkhan Abdulvapov was detained after Russian searches in February 2022, along with three other Crimeans. All of them were accused of participating in the Islamic political party Hizb ut-Tahrir.
On March 15, 2023, a Russian court sentenced Abdulvapov to 10 years and 6 months in prison.
