Crimean prisoner released due to cancer was taken back into custody

In Crimea, Russian security forces have re-detained Lenur Khalilov, the former head of the independent Muslim community 'Alushta'. Khalilov, who was sentenced to 18 years in the case of the 'Alushta group' of Hizb ut-Tahrir, was released from prison only in August due to his serious health condition.
This was reported by Krym.Realii with reference to the prisoner's lawyer Emil Kourdebinov.
The repeated detention took place by the decision of the Arkhangelsk Regional Court of the Russian Federation, which canceled the decision on the early release of Khalilov. The hearing was held in the Zheleznodorozhnyi District Court of Simferopol via videoconference.
The lawyer Emil Kurbedinov called the court's decision, adopted on October 13, illegal, unreasonable and dishonorable. According to the Russian prosecutor, the conclusions of the medical commission that Khalilov cannot be kept in a penitentiary institution on a general basis, ''do not indicate the absolute necessity of his release''.
Lawyer Kurbedinov categorically disagrees with this interpretation, noting that this decision ''simply sends Lenur-agya to die in this colony with such a serious illness".
Kurbedinov insists that the decision of the Russian regional court violates the constitutional rights of Khalilov, since the law of the Russian Federation (according to the governmental decree No. 54 of 2004) does not require additional conditions for release, except for the presence of an illness that is included in the list of those who prevent serving a sentence.
The lawyer added that the full decision of the Russian court will be appealed in cassation.
This morning, a series of searches in the homes of Crimean Tatars took place in the Russian-annexed Crimea. Investigative actions were carried out in Bakhchisaray district, as well as in villages that administratively belong to Sevastopol.
The FSB officers detained four women, all of whom were taken to the so-called 'FSB office in the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol' in Simferopol. Among the detainees is Esma Nimetulayeva from Bakhchisarai, who is a mother of many children and the wife of political prisoner Remzi Nimetulayev. The searches also took place in the houses of Nasiba Saidova (a student of the pedagogical college) and Elviza Aliyeva in Bakhchisaray district, as well as in the house of Fevziye Osmanova in the village of Orlivka, Sevastopol district.
