Crimean political prisoner Raif Fevziev has serious problems with his legs caused by a complication of varicose veins. The prisoner is not provided with medical care.
According to the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, this was reported by the political prisoner 's wife Liana Fevzieva. According to her, Raif Fevziev has serious problems with his legs caused by complications of varicose veins.
"The varicose veins have become much worse than before. It is very frightening, his legs are in a terrible condition and he is very worried about them. His blood pressure is also rising," Fevzieva emphasized.
In addition, the food in the prison has deteriorated significantly. Although the gastroenterological problems have partially subsided, the general state of health continues to be a concern.
Raif Fevziev was arrested on August 17, 2021, for allegedly participating in the activities of the banned in Russia organization Hizb ut-Tahrir and sentenced to 17 years in prison.
Raif Fevziev is being held in the Yenisei Correctional Colony No. 6, one of the most severe institutions of the Russian Federal Penitentiary System.
"The Yenisei prison is a very strict demonstration facility, so the requirements for compliance with the regime are as strict as possible," the political prisoner's wife said.
Fevziev is practically isolated from the outside world, as his contacts are limited to cellmates and guards. There is no work in the colony, so prisoners spend most of their time in their cells. Winter frosts in Siberia have become a real torture for the political prisoner. Although the cells are larger in size, they still remain cramped conditions with no medical care.
Earlier, in the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don (Russia), the prosecutor requested that the Crimean Tatar activists from the first Dzhankoy group in theHizb ut-Tahrir case be sentenced to 11 to 17 years in a maximum security prison. He also asked that they spend the first four years in prison.
