Crimean human rights activist Eskender Bariev commented on Russia's tactics in detaining Ukrainians in the occupied territories

The occupiers are increasingly detaining Ukrainians and concealing the fact of detention.

Commenting on the case of the disappearance and subsequent sudden discovery of three women in the detention center, Crimean human rights activist, Chairman of the Board of the CTRC Eskender Bariev expressed his opinion on the CTRC website quite unequivocally.

We are talking about Larysa Gaidai, who disappeared on March 27, as well as Tatiana Pavlenko (Simonenko) and Elvira Aboyazova, who disappeared the next day. There is still no official confirmation from the occupation authorities, but the CTRC has received verified information from its own sources.

According to the activist, such cases have already occurred, in particular in the cases of Irina Danilovich and Irina Gorobtsova. Back then, people were illegally held incommunicado, and later the occupiers were forced to officially confirm their whereabouts.

"Perhaps they are charged with something, but they don't talk about it publicly. Secondly, they may be held in order to obtain the necessary information from them in order to continue their actions there. And thirdly, in our opinion, it is due to the fact that they have not yet built their own "investigative things" to prepare charges for them," Bariiev noted.

Also, according to the verified information from the sources of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, SIZO-2, where women are probably being held, used to be a colony that was completely re-equipped. According to him, abuses and impunity of detainees, especially representatives of the Crimean Tatar people, are often recorded there.

The organization also notes that there is an increase in the persecution of women of all ages in Crimea. Therefore, the advocates for justice and freedom on the occupied peninsula call on the international community to increase attention to cases of enforced disappearances, persecution of women and gross human rights violations on the temporarily occupied peninsula. These actions of the Russian occupation administration not only contradict international law, but also create an atmosphere of fear, isolation and impunity.
