Crimean businessman convicted by Russia was hospitalized for the third time in two years

60-year-old Crimean businessman Ruslan Nagayev, who was sentenced to 13 years in prison by a Russian court, was emergency hospitalized for the third time in the last two years.

The prisoner was taken to the hospital for a routine examination, according to the results of which doctors should decide whether he needs surgery or further inpatient treatment. Nagayev's health condition, as reported by his family, is constantly deteriorating. He has a chronic illness that has become inflammatory. The political prisoner also had problems with high blood pressure and kidney pain, as well as the need for consultations with a rheumatologist and gastroenterologist.
Back in August 2024, relatives emphasized the urgent need for surgery. However, despite repeatedly being taken to the prison hospital, he never received proper care. Previous treatment only relieved his symptoms, and the necessary specialist did not examine him. After being transferred to Arkhangelsk in November of the same year, the man was taken to the hospital again due to his serious condition, but even then he was only promised that they would 'see if they would perform an operation'. Since then, the surgery has not taken place. In addition, the Crimean is still not informed about his exact diagnosis and health condition.
Ruslan Nahayev was detained on June 10, 2019, after a series of massive searches in the homes of Crimean Tatars in Alushta, Belogorsk and Simferopol districts.
On that day, in addition to Nagayev, seven other men were detained: Eldar Kantimirov, Ruslan Mesutov, Lenur Khalilov, Riza Omerov, Enver Omerov, Ayder Dzhepparov and Eskender Suleymanov. The Russian authorities have charged them with involvement in the Islamic political party Hizb ut-Tahrir. In the Russian Federation, this party is recognized as a terrorist organization and is banned. However, it is worth noting that in many countries of the world it operates without restrictions at the level of national legislation.
Nagayev and other defendants in the case were sentenced to long prison terms, despite the fact that no evidence of terrorist activity or the use of violence was presented.
