Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga commented on Russia's morning missile attack on Ukraine. He called the strikes a response by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to those leaders who have called or met with him recently.
Andriy Sybiga wrote about this on the X network.
"Russia has carried out one of the largest air attacks ever: drones and missiles on peaceful cities, civilians sleeping, critical infrastructure. This is the war criminal Putin's real response to everyone who has called and visited him recently. We need peace through strength, not appeasement," the statement reads.
At night, on November 17, the Russian military attacked energy system facilities across the country with missiles. Emergency power outages were introduced. The enemy fired missiles at electricity generation and transmission facilities throughout Ukraine. Due to the massive attack, emergency blackouts were introduced in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovska and Donetska oblasts. Also, since 06:53, emergency power outages have been introduced in Cherkasy region. In addition, there is currently no power supply in some parts of Odesa. Emergency power outages have been introduced in Kyiv region by order of NPC Ukrenergo.
According to monitoring channels, there were 45 missiles in the airspace of our country at the same time, heading for Kyiv, Kropyvnytskyi, Kryvyi Rih, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Chernihiv, Poltava and Vinnytsia regions, and explosions were heard in different cities.
According to DTEK Odesa Power Grids, on the morning of November 17, emergency power outages were applied, which caused a number ofInfoksvodokanal facilities to be de-energized. According to Infoksvodokanal, most pumping stations were switched to generator power to restore water supply. However, the large capacity and technological conditions of some of them do not allow for the use of autonomous power sources.
Instead, the Odesa City Heat Supply utility explained that the lack of heat was due to a water supply outage, and as soon as it is restored, heat supply will be resumed. Also, city electric transport stopped running in Odesa.
