In Mykolaiv, a court sentenced a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for leaving the military unit without permission. The accused went home without the knowledge of his superiors, where he spent two months repairing a house damaged by shelling. For this, he was sentenced to 5 years in prison.

The sentence was passed by the Leninsky District Court of Mykolaiv on October 30.

According to the case file, the accused soldier, originally from the village of Krasne Znamya in Mykolaiv region, was mobilized in September 2022 after the announcement of general mobilization. He was assigned as a driver to a security unit and served in various regions, including being sent to perform tasks in Zaporizhzhia region, where he was injured, after which he continued his service.

On March 7, 2024, the accused left the unit without permission and returned home to repair his home damaged by the hostilities. For this repair, he ordered the necessary materials, as it was planned that he would be sent back to the combat zone. After completing the repairs, on May 17, 2024, he voluntarily came to the State Bureau of Investigation in Mykolaiv and wrote a confession. He said he repented of his actions and wanted to return to service. However, the command of his unit and another military unit refused to accept him back.

Thecourt took into account the circumstances - sincere repentance and the accused's self-reporting to the authorities. Taking into account the gravity of the crime, but also his positive characteristic and voluntary return, the court sentenced him to a 5-year prison term for violating Part 5 of Article 407 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, a court in Odesa sentenced a TCC employee for extortion of a bribe during mobilization. The court decided not to punish the military officer severely, but to impose a fine.

In addition, a utility driver was convicted of publishing the TCC's actions.
