Two journalists of the Crimean TV channel Millet are suspected of calling for changing the borders of the territory of Ukraine and spreading enemy propaganda.
This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.
The post says that under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office of the autonomy, two journalists of the pro-Russian TV channel Millet were served with a notice of suspicion. Their actions are classified under Part 2 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine). The sanction of the article provides for up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The investigation established that one of the suspects in 2016 was the host of a news program on the Millet TV channel, in particular, issues devoted to alleged "sabotage operations of Ukrainian special forces", "issues of oppression of Crimean Muslims by Ukraine", "fight against terrorism", etc. In 2017, another "journalist" hosted a socio-political talk show on the said TV channel with the participation of invited pro-Russian figures and representatives of the occupation authorities. In the propaganda programs, which were later broadcast on the Millet TV channel's page on Youtube and Rutube, the suspects repeatedly made public calls for changing the boundaries of the territory and state border of Ukraine.
According to the conclusion of the forensic linguistic examination, the suspects' speeches contain statements aimed at supporting the actions of the aggressor state and its occupation administration.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the SBU Main Directorate in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
Earlier it was reported that the occupation deputy of the "State Council of the Republic of Crimea" would be tried for collaboration and justification of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine. In 2019, she became the editor-in-chief of the occupation news agency Krym Segodnya, and in 2022 - the chairman of the board of the occupation NGO Ukrainian Community of Crimea.
