A 27-year-old mercenary, a citizen of Russia, a resident of Rostov-on-Don, a serviceman of the Kherson detachment of the private military company Redut, killed a local resident of the temporarily occupied Oleshky in Kherson region in January 2024.
This was reported by the Prosecutor's Office of the Kherson region.
According to the investigation, on January 10, 2024, a soldier of the aggressor country's army, while intoxicated, started a chaotic shooting on Oleshky Street. A resident of a private house, a 68-year-old man, heard the noise and went out into the yard. Seeing the civilian, the mercenary made at least six shots in his direction. The man sustained perforating wounds, the bullets damaged his heart and lungs, and the victim died on the spot.
Under the procedural supervision of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, a serviceman of the Kherson detachment of the private military company Redut was served in absentia a notice of suspicion of violating the laws and customs of war combined with premeditated murder.
Earlier, in the village of Preobrazhenka in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region, Russians took the life of a young man. This became known from a message posted on the Internet by the rector of one of the universities in Kherson, where the deceased had previously studied.
Also, in the occupied part of Kherson region, according to the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin , Russians are engaged in raiding the homes of local residents. According to him, they call it "nationalization of ownerless property." In fact, they are stealing the homes of people who have left the occupied communities.
In addition, the occupation authorities are forcing residents of the left-bank Kherson region and other temporarily occupied territories to renounce their Ukrainian citizenship. Thus, the Russians continue their policy of forced passportization in the occupied regions. As part of this policy, the enemy forces Ukrainians to write an application to renounce their citizenship. This practice was introduced into Russian legislation and is aimed solely at assimilating Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied territories. There is no such practice for citizens of other countries.
