The Security Service of Ukraine has detained a Russian agent who infiltrated the Armed Forces of Ukraine to adjust attacks on Ukrainian military positions.
This was reported by the SBU press center.
According to the investigation, a 30-year-old resident of Odesa was recruited by the Russian special service through telegram channels, where he was looking for easy money.
At first, he completed a "test task" for the enemy, after which, in August 2024, he joined one of the military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the instructions of his supervisor. Thanks to long-term surveillance, the SBU documented all the actions of the traitor and detained him while he was trying to transfer coordinates to the Russian occupiers.
As it became known, the main targets of the enemy were training centers and air defense deployments. It was planned to strike at these objects at the time of the maximum concentration of Ukrainian military, while the agent planned to hide outside the unit for further fire adjustment.
During the searches, a cell phone with evidence of his subversive activities was seized from the detainee. The traitor was charged under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - high treason under martial law. He is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

In addition, a former Ukrainian Navy officer will be tried for treason and desertion. The Special Prosecutor's Office of Odesa region has submitted the case of the military officer to the court. In March 2014, during the occupation of Crimea, the lieutenant colonel refused to comply with orders and did not join the military unit, which was transferred to a new location.
Later, the former officer openly refused to perform military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and went on the run to the enemy.
Earlier, the Mykolaiv Region Special Prosecutor's Office brought a case against the former commander of an anti-aircraft missile and artillery division of a Crimean military unit to court.
