The judge of the Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa, Ilya Lonskyi, has been temporarily suspended from his duties.

The decision to bring the judge to disciplinary responsibility and impose a disciplinary sanction in the form of a motion for dismissal was made by the First Disciplinary Chamber of the High Council of Justice on December 23, 2024, Judicial and Legal Newspaperreported.

The suspension of judges from the administration of justice is valid until the High Council of Justice decides to dismiss them from office or reverse the decision of the Disciplinary Chamber.

In early August, the High Anti-Corruption Court paused the hearing of the case of Ilya Lonsky, a judge of the Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa, who is suspected of bribery. The reason was the mobilization of the judge to the Armed Forces.

The judge was called up for service in May 2024. The court also received confirmation from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that he has been participating in combat missions since July 7, and therefore cannot attend the hearings via video conference.

On August 4, 2023, the NABU and the SAPO notified the judge of the Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa of suspicion of attempted bribery of another judge of the same court for making a positive decision in a case of an administrative offense under Article 130 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (driving vehicles by persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs), as well as obtaining part of the bribe by deception.

Judge Ilya Lonsky, having received money from the lawyer, tried to persuade his colleague, also a judge of the Primorsky District Court, AnzhelikaRuseva, to make the "right" decision in the case. In turn, the lawyer received 2 thousand dollars from the client for "services".

On August 10, 2023, the High Council of Justice granted consent to the detention of judge Ilya Lonsky of the Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa.
