A port employee died in hospital as a result of a Russian missile attack in Odesa region on October 9. This brings the death toll to seven people.
This was announced by the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Oleh Kiper.
According to him, a 46-year-old port employee died in a medical facility in the morning. He was seriously injured.
Update at 14.00: Later it became known that another man died of his injuries in the hospital. He was 26 years old. Thus, the number of victims of yesterday's attack on Odesa region increased to 8 people, said the head of Odesa regional administration Oleg Kiper.
Last night, the Russians targeted the port infrastructure of Odesa region, including a civilian ship flying the Panamanian flag, the container ship Shui Spirit. Six people were killed on the spot. Another 11 were injured. All of them are Ukrainians.
The Russian army regularly attacks civilian port infrastructure in Odesa region.
This is the third foreign vessel to be attacked by Russians in the last four days.
Before that, Russia attacked a civilian vessel that was in the ports of Odesa region. A ballistic missile damaged the Palau-flagged OPTIMA. One person died as a result of the enemy attack. Five other foreign nationals, crew members, were injured.
The day before, on October 6, Russians fired on the civilian shipPARESA flying the flag of St. Kitts and Nevis, which was loaded with corn for export. It happened near one of the berths in the Pivdennyi seaport. It was the 20th civilian vessel to be damaged by Russian attacks.
