Kherson residents who collected tribute for the occupiers will be sentenced

Based on the materials of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), indictments were sent to court against two residents of Kherson who, during the temporary occupation of the city, took up senior positions in the illegally created "tax service of the Kherson region".

This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation in Melitopol.

In the summer of 2022, when Kherson was under the control of Russian troops, the defendants voluntarily agreed to cooperate with the occupation authorities. For their activities, one of the women was promoted to the position of head of the general department, and the other became deputy head of the department of registration and accounting of taxpayers.

In these positions, they actively performed administrative, economic, organizational and administrative functions, contributing to the occupiers' budget.

One of the defendants headed the general department, and the other was appointed deputy head of the department of registration and accounting of taxpayers. In their managerial positions, they helped the occupation authorities fill the invaders' treasury by performing organizational, administrative, and economic functions.

After the liberation of Kherson, both women fled with the Russian military to the territories that remain under the control of the aggressor.

The defectors are accused of voluntarily taking up positions in an illegally created law enforcement agency in the temporarily occupied territory (Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The article provides for up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. The Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office is providing procedural supervision in the case.

The court found the former head of the Verkhnorohachytsia Central District Hospital guilty of aiding the aggressor state (Part 1 of Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Meanwhile, a resident of Genichesk who resettled Russian military in other people's homes, helped set up checkpoints and supported passportization on the left bank of Kherson region faces up to 12 years in prison.

Recently, the court sentenced a resident of Chornobaivka who organized a base for Russian military equipment and helped to resettle Russians during the occupation of Kherson region. The man was found guilty of aiding the aggressor state and sentenced to 10 years.

The former head of Volodymyrivka village Olena Zavorikhina, who had sided with the Russians on her own, was also sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
