Kharkiv police officer detained in Odesa on suspicion of helping fugitives abroad

A Kharkiv law enforcement officer was detained in Odesa on suspicion of organizing the escape of conscripts abroad.
This was reported by the press service of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to the investigation, the law enforcement officer from Kharkiv developed a scheme to escape men abroad for 7,500 USD.
The plan was that he would buy train tickets to Odesa, book a hotel, and then, with instructions and recommendations, his client would cross the state border of Ukraine on foot in the direction of the Republic of Moldova.
The law enforcement officer traveled to Odesa with the client, emphasizing that he would take with him documents allowing him to move freely within the territory of Ukraine.
Before the trip, he informed the client that he had to pay USD 2,000 as an advance payment.
On November 16, the dealer and his next client checked into a hotel in Odesa, where the Kharkiv resident received the second tranche of USD 5,500. That's when law enforcement detained him.
Currently, the court has granted the prosecution's request: the suspect was chosen a measure of restraint in the form of detention with the right to be released on bail in the amount of UAH 484,480 for a period of 60 days. Other persons involved in the crime are being identified.
Border guards received advance information from a unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and responded to unknown persons moving towards the border in Odesa region and detained a group of men.
Earlier, law enforcement officers detained a 54-year-old resident of Odesa region in Vinnytsia region on suspicion of facilitating the illegal crossing of the state border outside official checkpoints to three men.
