Interior Ministry Lyceum immortalizes the memory of the commander of the "Tsunami" regiment, killed by ballistic missiles in Odesa

The Dnipro lyceum of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was named after Oleksandr Hostyshchev, the commander of the Tsunami battalion who died in a rocket attack in Odesa.
This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.
Oleksandr Gostishchev was a lieutenant colonel of the police, commander of the Tsunami assault regiment of the Rage Brigade. In March 2024, he died heroically while saving people after a missile attack in Odesa. At the time of his death, he was only 41 years old.
Oleksandr Hostyshchev was originally from Dnipro. In 2014, he joined the Dnipro-1 battalion as a volunteer. He took part in the liberation of Mariupol and battles in the Donetsk region. During the full-scale invasion, he headed the battalion and later the Tsunami Regiment. His combat path covered Mykolaiv, Kherson, Odesa and Donetsk regions. Among his key achievements is participation in the liberation of David's Ford and Kherson.
In 2021, Gostishchev was appointed Deputy Head of the Main Department of the National Police in Odesa Oblast. Prior to that, he headed the Department of Preventive Activities of the National Police in Odesa region.
On March 15, 2024, the Russians fired two Iskander-M ballistic missiles at Odesa. As a result of the missile attack on the city's civilian infrastructure, a three-story building of a recreational facility was destroyed, and at least 10 private houses, a service station, a low-pressure gas pipeline, ambulances, and fire and rescue vehicles were damaged. Twenty-one people were killed, including residents of the area, a medic, rescuers, and former deputy mayor Serhiy Tetyukhin. More than 70 people were injured, including eight rescuers.
The Dnipro City Council is also considering naming one of the city's public gardens after Oleksandr Gostishchev.
