The Artsyz district court of Odesa region found a local resident guilty of evading military service during mobilization and sentenced him to three years in prison.
This is stated in the relevant court verdict.
The judges took into account that the man had fully admitted his guilt and imposed a personal commitment as a preventive measure, which was in place before the court's verdict and will remain in place until the verdict enters into force. The man can still file an appeal.
The story began in March 2024, when the convict underwent a medical examination by a military medical commission, which resulted in his being declared medically fit for military service. On the same day, he received a call. He was warned by the TCC that if he did not hand over the commission's conclusion, the military would turn to law enforcement, but he ignored this warning.
However, he did not go to the territorial center for recruitment and social support and thus evaded mobilization. He justified his decision by saying that he did not want to join the army. It should be noted that three years in prison is the minimum sentence provided by the Criminal Code of Ukraine for such a crime.
In April, the Kominternivsky District Court of Odesa Oblast, located in the town of Dobroslav, sentenced a local resident to a fine of 6,800 hryvnias for evading military registration. The man also passed the commission, received a conclusion, but did not submit it to the territorial center for recruitment and social support.
In the end, the court decided that the fine would contribute to educating the person in the spirit of compliance with the laws of Ukraine, i.e., forming a habit of law-abiding behavior and not wanting to repeat actions that result in the imposition of these restrictions in the future.
