In 2024, four families of fallen soldiers in Mykolaiv region received compensation totaling UAH 2.3 million.
This was reported by Oksana Yelchieva, Director of the Social Protection Department of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.
"We have one of the types of assistance we can provide. This is assistance to family members of the victims who lost their lives or died as a result of injury, contusion, mutilation or illness sustained while defending the homeland, population and interests of the state in connection with the military aggression of the Russian Federation. This year, four family members received such assistance for a total of UAH 2.3 million," the official said.
In addition, according to Yelchiyeva, three people who became disabled due to wounds, contusions or injuries sustained in the war also received assistance in the amount of UAH 2.8 million.
The director of the Social Protection Department noted that compensation for the families of the fallen soldiers is approximately 2.2 million hryvnias, which is equal to 750 subsistence minimums at the time of the tragedy. These issues are being considered by an interagency working group under the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, which provides support to the victims.
Meanwhile, in Mykolaiv, one of the streets was renamed in honor of the fallen soldier Svyatoslav Aleksapolsky from Crimea, who was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine and the Golden Star Order.
Also, one of the central streets of Mykolaiv was renamed in honor of the Hero of Ukraine, Colonel Ihor Bedzai. Previously, it was named after Soviet pilot Chkalov.
In addition, Pushkin Street was renamed in honor of Ukrainian soldier Volodymyr Bondariuk, who died in the Joint Forces Operation area.
