Former deputy head of the investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Sevastopol is suspected of treason
This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.
The report says that under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office of the autonomy, the former deputy head of the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Sevastopol was notified of suspicion of treason (Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He faces up to 15 years in prison.
It has been established that after the occupation of the peninsula, the suspect betrayed his oath of allegiance to the people of Ukraine and joined the enemy, taking the position of "Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sevastopol - Head of the Investigation Department". Later, in 2015, he was appointed to the position of "Head of the Department of Criminal Investigation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Sevastopol", in 2016 - "Head of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Balaklava District" and in April 2019 - "Head of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Leninsky District", where he still works. By his actions and decisions, the suspect facilitates the functioning of the occupation law enforcement agencies on the peninsula, as well as assists representatives of a foreign state in conducting subversive activities against Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the Investigation Department of the SBU Main Directorate in the AR of Crimea.
Earlier it was reported that an occupation official from Crimea was sentenced in absentia to 7 years in prison for collaboration. Prosecutors proved in court that the citizen of Ukraine voluntarily agreed to cooperate with the occupiers, taking the position of "Deputy Head of the Dzhankoy District Administration" in June 2023.
Also, five occupation judges from Crimea were suspected of administering "justice" on behalf of and in the interests of the aggressor state.
