Forced evacuation in Kherson: the head of the OVA explained the situation

Today's massive shelling of the Kherson region, as well as another unsuccessful attempt by the Russian military to cross to the right bank of the Dnipro River, are accompanied by attempts at disinformation.

This was reported by the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Prokudin.

According to him, pro-Russian telegram channels are actively spreading fake reports about the alleged forced evacuation of Kherson residents. This information is not true and is aimed at creating panic among the population.

Official sources assure that no decision on forced evacuation has been made yet. The evacuation procedure remains unchanged and is entirely voluntary. There are two ways to leave the region:

1. By train - regular flights are organized to transport people to safe regions.
2. By bus - also free of charge for anyone who wants to leave the region.

Most regions of Ukraine have already prepared places for temporary accommodation of evacuees. The following regions are ready to receive residents of Kherson region:

• Volyn
• Vinnytsia
• Dnipropetrovska
• Odesa
• Transcarpathian
• Kyiv
• Mykolaiv
• Poltava
• Khmelnytskyi

The authorities also ask residents of the region to think about their safety and the safety of their loved ones. Evacuation is an opportunity to protect yourself from the constant threat of shelling and hostile forces.

For those who decided to stay, the recommendations remain the same:

• Be as cautious as possible during the holidays.
• Do not leave the house unless absolutely necessary.
• Follow the two-wall rule: stay in rooms where there are at least two walls between you and a possible explosion.

Onthe morning ofDecember 20, the Russian occupiers launched a massive attack on Kherson, shelling residential areas, critical and social infrastructure. Enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups attempted to break through in the direction of Kherson, but were quickly detected and destroyed by the Armed Forces. The tense situation in the region will continue over the holidays. The head of the JFO urged residents to avoid being outside unless necessary.

As a result of intense shelling by Russian troops in Kherson region, about 60,000 subscribers were left without electricity. Damage to critical infrastructure caused power outages in the Shumensky, Zhytleselyshche, Tavriysky and Ostrovsky neighborhoods of Kherson. Residents of Bilozerka and Komyshany were also left without electricity.

Earlier, at a meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, Roman Mrochko asked President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to help create a"protective dome" system that could protect residents and critical infrastructure in Kherson from attacks by Russian drones.
