Five occupation judges from Crimea were suspected of administering "justice" on behalf of and in the interests of the aggressor state.
This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The post says that under the procedural guidance of the autonomy's prosecutor's office, five occupation judges were notified of suspicion. Their actions are classified as collaboration (Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The suspects face up to 15 years in prison.
The investigation established that in 2022-2024, citizens of Ukraine voluntarily took up the positions of "judges" in the judiciary in the occupied Crimean peninsula. In particular, in the "Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea", "Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Simferopol", "Bakhchisaray District Court of the Republic of Crimea". In May 2024, one of the suspects was appointed to the position of a "magistrate judge" in the "judicial district of the Central Judicial District of Simferopol of the Republic of Crimea". In their positions, the suspects administered "justice" on behalf of and in the interests of the aggressor state and facilitated the functioning of the occupation judiciary system on the peninsula.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the SBU Main Directorate in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
Earlier it was reported that the General Director of the occupation media holding "Television and Radio Company Crimea" was sentenced to 12 years in prison under the public prosecution of the Crimean prosecutor's office. The prosecutors of the autonomy proved in court that the convicted immediately after the occupation of the peninsula by the Russian military began working for the enemy. He held various positions in the media and the occupation administration, including editor-in-chief of the First Crimean TV channel, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications of Crimea, etc.
It was also said that nine more occupation judges from Crimea were convicted in absentia for treason. This brings the number of such judges on the peninsula to over 100.
