In 2024, Mykolaiv continued to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine despite a limited budget and the removal of military personal income tax. Thanks to the community's efforts, the military received drones, cars, generators, starliners, electronic warfare systems, and other equipment that contributed to effective work at the front.
Summarizing the results of the year, Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych emphasized that the main focus was on providing the army with drones.
The community donated more than 2,000 drones, most of which are FPV drones. "They help to destroy the enemy and save the lives of our soldiers," said the mayor.
The aid was distributed to various units, including the Main Intelligence Directorate, the 79th, 36th, 59th, 123rd and 126th Brigades, as well as the Special Defense Forces. Nearly 20 vehicles and various equipment were also delivered to the military. In addition, generators, starters, electronic warfare systems, etc. were delivered to various units.
A separate initiative was to provide backpacks with all the necessary supplies for the soldiers who returned from captivity. Thanks to the help of local businesses, they received 100 backpacks with the necessary items.
In total, more than UAH 230 million was allocated from the city budget to improve the material and technical base, purchase equipment and gear. In addition, military units received more than a thousand pieces of equipment from the material reserve worth over UAH 97 million.
Recently, the community of Mykolaiv handed over another batch of drones to the Armed Forces of Ukraine operating in the Kherson sector. In early December, five Mykolaiv brigades received quadcopters and a mini-power plant. They received 90 DJI Mavic quadcopters and a compact Jackery mini-power plant. The 35th Separate Marine Brigade received another set of drones.
In November, at the request of the 188th Battalion of the 123rd Territorial Defense Brigade, camouflage nets, trench candles, necessary equipment, household chemicals, some clothing, batteries and medicines were delivered to the defenders.
In October, the city donated new vehicles for the military. One of the units performing combat missions in the Kherson region received the necessary vehicles. One vehicle was purchased at the expense of the city budget, and the other was donated by Mykolaivpastrans.
