An FSB officer who participated in illegal detentions and torture of civilians will be tried in Kherson region

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The post says that under the procedural guidance of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, an indictment was sent to court against an FSB officer on the fact of cruel treatment of civilians and other violations of the laws and customs of war (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that the accused, while in occupied Kherson, in collusion with other Russian military personnel, illegally detained a resident of a local village in the seized premises of the National Police. In September 2022, the man, together with other occupants, interrogated the victim, who was accused of helping the Defense Forces and tried to find out about possible places of storage of weapons. When the prisoner answered in Ukrainian, he was physically abused and tortured with electric shocks. Such interrogations took place several times, and stopped only after the victim lost consciousness. During the period of detention, the man was kept in unsanitary conditions, fed twice during the entire period, restricted from using the restroom, and not provided with any hygiene products.

The special pre-trial investigation was carried out by the Main Department of the National Police in Kherson region.

Earlier it was reported that a member of an illegal armed group who detained and tortured residents of Kherson region was served a notice of suspicion. According to the investigation, the 54-year-old suspect joined the illegal armed formation, an analog of the Russian FSB, created in the temporarily occupied territory in 2022 - the "State Security Service of the Kherson Region".

Also in Kherson region, the court handed down a verdict in absentia to the commander of a Russian Guard unit who ordered the torture of Ukrainians.
