Four Ukrainian citizens who intended to cross the Ukrainian-Moldovan border were detained by border guards of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi detachment on the outskirts of the village of Yasky in Odesa region.
This was reported by the press center of the Southern Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
The residents of the Dnipro region explained that, having no stable income, they decided to seek a better life abroad. To organize their way to Moldova, the men took advice from social media. In one of the messengers, they were offered a foreign route for $500. It included crossing wetlands, thickets, and two rivers, the Turunchuk and the Dniester.
After paying the money, the travelers reached the border and split into two groups. One of the men even decided to cross the border illegally on his birthday.
However, instead of the usual guests and a festive table, there were three fugitives and a table where reports on administrative offenses were drawn up under Article 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Ukraine "Illegal crossing or attempt to illegally cross the state border."
Earlier, an Odesa resident who illegally crossed the border from Slovakia was detained in Zakarpattia. Slovak border guards reported his movement, after which the fugitive began to run away, but did not stop at the request of the border guards. To stop him, the border guards had to make several warning shots in the air.
Previously, the two men had tried to pretend to be parents with many children in order to travel abroad, but after the deception was exposed, they tried to "settle the case" with a bribe.
Before that, border guards stopped two Mercedes and a Hyundai driven by a man and a woman. The cars were carrying seven men whom the drivers were trying to smuggle out of the country.
