A man who initiated and supported the pseudo-referendum in Kherson region is suspected of aiding the enemy.
This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The statement says that under the procedural guidance of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, a local resident was served in absentia with a notice of suspicion of aiding the aggressor state (Part 1 of Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, during the occupation of Kherson, the suspect supported the actions and decisions of the occupation authorities. He took the position of "deputy chairman of the public council" created under the occupation administration of the region. He was entrusted with responsibilities related to the formation of a positive image of the occupiers, their actions and decisions in society. Through Russian-controlled media, he promoted narratives about the need to hold a "referendum" and the region's accession to the Russian Federation. He also initiated this issue with the occupation administration. During a public event held in the capital of the aggressor country to sign an agreement on the region's accession to Russia, the suspect gave an interview to propaganda media in which he supported illegal actions.
The pre-trial investigation is conducted by the SBU Office in Kherson region.
