A native of Kherson, who built a career as the "Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology" during the occupation, was sentenced.

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The post says that with the support of the public prosecution of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, the native of Kherson was found guilty of collaboration (Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He was sentenced to the maximum penalty for this crime - 10 years in prison with confiscation of property. He was also deprived of the right to hold positions in state and local government for a period of 15 years.

It is noted that the prosecutor proved in court that the convict began building a career in the so-called "Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Kherson Region" in the summer of 2022. At first, he held the position of "first deputy minister" and later headed the "ministry" itself. In addition to organizational, administrative, and economic functions, he participated in public events during which he boasted about his work to propaganda media resources. He also organized the activities of the seized nature reserves in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region under the legislation of the Russian Federation.

The special pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kherson region.

Earlier it was reported that a resident of Kherson region, who received a "mandate of a deputy of the regional duma" of the occupiers, was served a notice of suspicion. According to the investigation, in August 2023, the 48-year-old suspect joined the ranks of the United Russia party and took part in the elections to the illegal government body, the Kherson Regional Duma of the first convocation.

It was also reported that a resident of the village of Chaplynka was found guilty of collaboration (Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) for supporting the public prosecution of the Kherson Regional and Kakhovka District Prosecutor's Offices.
