Over two years, more than three hundred children have been evacuated from the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson region. Despite the de-occupation, the occupiers are shelling the city and other settlements of the Kherson region on a daily basis.
This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional State Administration.
"Since the liberation of the right-bank part of Kherson region, the team of the Save Ukraine charitable foundation has evacuated 858 people from dangerous areas of the region.
"Our volunteers are working continuously to help the residents of the region," the organization said.
"In total, the volunteers managed to evacuate 858 people, including 391 children and 94 people with disabilities, from the communities affected by the continuous shelling.
Another important area of work is the return of children from the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson region. In two years, the team has managed to evacuate 352 children.
In total, more than 48,000 people have been evacuated from dangerous areas since the liberation of the right-bank part of Kherson Oblast. Among them are more than 6,600 children and 470 people with reduced mobility. The evacuation was organized with the support of volunteers, given the difficult security situation.
Before the full-scale invasion, about 490,000 people lived on the right bank of the Kherson region. As of September 1, 2024, this figure is about 168 thousand people, but compared to 2023. However, if we observe the dynamics during the summer season, we can see an increase in the number of people, as people return home to repair their buildings or pick up necessary things, etc.
As for the Kherson community, Denys Putintsev, Director of the Media and Public Relations Department of the Kherson City Military Administration, told Intent that from January 1 to September 8, 2024, 4,995 people voluntarily evacuated. Of these, 2664 people left by train, including 383 children, 1167 women, and 163 people with disabilities. The bus evacuated 2331 people, including 324 children and 1368 women.
On November 11, 2022, the liberation of Kherson from the occupiers began. Now in the de-occupied city, the residential areas are clean, shops and markets are open. Yellow and blue symbols can be seen everywhere.
