Another 11 occupation judges from Crimea have been sentenced in absentia for treason.
This was reported by the press service of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
The agency said that 11 more occupation judges were sentenced in absentia under the public prosecution of the autonomy's prosecutor's office. They were sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 12 to 14 years for committing high treason (Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
It is noted that prosecutors in court proved that after the occupation of the peninsula in 2014, the convicts betrayed their oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people and began working in the occupation courts. To wit: The Arbitration Court of the Republic of Crimea; the Twenty-first Arbitration Court of Appeal; Belogorsk, Dzhankoy, and Sovetsky District Courts of the Republic of Crimea; Yevpatoriya, Sevastopol, and Yalta City Courts; Kyiv District Court of Simferopol; and Nakhimov District Court of Sevastopol.
"By their actions and decisions, they contributed to the establishment and strengthening of the occupation judiciary in Crimea, as well as assisted representatives of a foreign state in conducting subversive activities against Ukraine," the press service said.
The statement added that 77 former Ukrainian "servants of Themis" who ensured the functioning of the occupation courts on the peninsula have been convicted under Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine under public prosecution of the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.
Earlier it was reported that 14 occupation judges from Crimea will be tried for treason. It was established that after the occupation of the peninsula, three of the accused took the positions of "deputy chairman" and "judges" of the "Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea", two - "judges" of the "Arbitration Court of the Republic of Crimea". Others were transferred to the occupation Yevpatoria, Sevastopol and Kerch city, Kirov and Belogorsk district courts of the Republic of Crimea, as well as Gagarin and Lenin district courts of Sevastopol.
It was also reported that a former judge of the Simferopol District Court of the ARC was sentenced to 13 years for treason.
