Mykolaiv athlete becomes European champion and sets world record

Mykolaiv athlete Yulia Olizarenko won the European Championships in the strongman all-around and set a world record in the deadlift as part of the Ukrainian national team.
This was reported by the Mykolaiv City Council.
The Old School Strongman international tournament was held from May 8 to 10 in Tskaltubo, Georgia. The strongest athletes from different European countries took part in the competition.
The Ukrainian national team won first place in the team competition and became the European champion.
One of the key athletes of the Ukrainian team was Yulia Olizarenko from Mykolaiv. She showed the best coefficient among women in the tournament in three disciplines.
In addition to winning the European Championship, the athlete set a new world record in the final discipline. In the deadlift, Yulia Olizarenko lifted 250 kilograms and updated her previous world record.
Earlier, Mykolaiv athletes together with the Ukrainian national team won gold in the mixed team jumps at the European Championships in Antalya. This was Ukraine's second consecutive gold medal in mixed team events at the European Championships.
The Ukrainian diving team also competed in five events at the World Cup Super Final in Beijing, and our athletes won medals in two of them. In the synchronized diving from the 10-meter tower, 19-year-old Oleksiy Sereda from Mykolaiv and 15-year-old Mark Hrytsenko took third place.
Last year, Mykolaiv increased bonuses for athletes, decided to popularize physical culture among the population and introduce mechanisms for sports rehabilitation for children and adults with special needs.
