The young fencer from Mykolaiv won gold and bronze at the Children's League stage held in Kyiv. His success has become a source of pride for the city and a shining example of the perseverance and talent of the younger generation of athletes.
This was reported by the press service of the National Fencing Federation of Ukraine.
On February 15-16, the Children's League in Memory of V. Myroniuk "Fierce Sabre" took place at the Kyiv Children's Sports School "Armyman", which brought together about a hundred young fencers from all over Ukraine. The tournament was attended by athletes from Kyiv, Rivne, Netishyn, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Oleksandria and Vyshneve, demonstrating their skills in three age categories: under 11, 13 and 15. Kyiv won the most gold medals.
Mykolaiv athletes also made a name for themselves: young saber fencer Roman Nikolayenko won two medals at once. In the category of boys born in 2010 and younger, the athlete took third place, and among the participants born in 2012 and younger, he became the absolute winner, winning gold.
Recently, Mykolaiv fencer Yelizar Dyrda became the champion of Ukraine in foil fencing among juniors, demonstrating a confident victory at all stages of the tournament. Another fencer from Mykolaiv, Artem Korzhovy-Lerner, won a silver medal. Meanwhile, foil fencer Alina Poloziuk took 29th place at the World Cup in Hong Kong, making it to the top 32, and her team finished tenth. In Paris, the men's team, which included Dyrda, finished in 17th place.
In January, a ceremony was held at the Olympic House in Kyiv, during which Olha Harlan, a student of the Mykolaiv Fencing School, was awarded a special award from the NOC of Ukraine - "Sports Symbol of Unity". During the ceremony, the athlete was presented with a unique personalized ceramic statuette symbolizing victory and indomitable spirit.
Despite the extremely challenging conditions, last year was a successful one for Ukrainian sports: leading athletes confirmed their high level and new talents emerged in the arena. Ten of the most significant victories are in the material of Intent.
