On the sixth day of the 2025 World Games, the Ukrainian national team won three medals in combat sambo. In particular, Andriy Kucherenko from Kherson won gold.
This was reported by Suspilne.Sport.
Andriy Kucherenko won the first medal with a score of 6:1 (weight category up to 71 kg). The sambo wrestler defeated Russian sambo wrestler Roland Zinnatov, who is a neutral. Vladyslav Rudnev won the second gold medal: in the final of the 79 kg weight category, he met the same "neutral" Hovhannes Abharyan. At the start of the fight, the athletes maintained parity, but after a series of successful attacks, Rudnev won a confident 3-0 victory. The last fight was held by three-time bronze medalist of the World Championships Petro Davydenko (up to 88 kg). His opponent was once again a Russian under a neutral flag, sambo wrestler Abusupyan Alikhanov. At the equator of the fight, Davydenko allowed his opponent to earn a point, but a decisive throw and a takedown brought him a 4-1 victory.
The 16-year-old athlete from Kherson became a world champion in karate. The young athlete's family moved to Zhytomyr with the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The girl trains 6 times a week with a coach and three times at home. Coach Oleksandr says Anastasia is calm, well-mannered and responsible. She does everything perfectly. He thanked her first coach from Kherson, Serhiy Darii: "It was he who laid the solid foundation that we have developed here. And here is the result - a world champion."
We also previously wrote about a Kherson resident who made the pages of Forbes Ukraine. This is a businessman from Kherson region, Kostiantyn Dudchenko. He is a co-owner and managing partner of Prostir.coffee (Kherson, Ivano-Frankivsk), founder of Kherson Coffee and Spilne Shop. After losing his business in Kherson, he started a new one in Ivano-Frankivsk from scratch.
