Prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol proved in court that two former employees of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea were guilty of treason.
This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol.
The women were sentenced to 12 and 13 years in prison, with confiscation of their property. They were also barred from holding positions in law enforcement agencies for three years.
Prior to the occupation of Crimea, one of the convicted women worked as a senior prosecutor handling international legal matters at the Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, while the other served as a prosecutor in the Alushta City Prosecutor’s Office.
In 2014, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, they betrayed their oaths and began working for the “Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Crimea,” which was illegally established by the Russians.
By assuming the positions of prosecutors there and performing their assigned duties, the former prosecutors, according to the prosecution, facilitated subversive activities against Ukraine and the establishment and operation of the Russian Federation’s occupation authorities on the peninsula.
Their actions were classified under Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine— high treason.
Recently, the National Police of Ukraine announced charges against ten residents of occupied Crimea who are suspected of high treason for voluntarily joining the Russian army following the occupation of the peninsula in 2014. Some of them are still serving in the Russian armed forces.
