Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Parliament’s Human Rights Commissioner, has launched an investigation into the mobilization of the 57-year-old director of a high school in the Kherson region. The school’s teaching staff contacted the Ombudsman’s Office.
Dmytro Lubinets wrote about this on social media.
The Ombudsman noted that each situation must be considered on a case-by-case basis, taking all circumstances into account, especially when it comes to a person who has served society for decades. He emphasized that the principal had led the high school for 35 years and, during the temporary occupation of the Kherson region, did not abandon his staff and did everything possible to ensure the school remained open every single day.
Dmytro Lubinets also expressed his conviction that Ukraine needs effective mobilization reform that will “put people first, rather than functioning like a soulless assembly line.”
On June 23, Artem Kiyanovskyi was traveling to Kyiv for a meeting of the Scientific and Methodological Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. At a checkpoint in Pivdennoukrainsk, he was stopped by representatives of the Voznesensk District Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support. The “School of Humanitarian Work” Lyceum of the Kherson Regional Council reported on social media that the school’s director did not resist and agreed to comply with the lawful requirements for completing the necessary paperwork. According to the school, he was taken to the Voznesensk Recruitment and Social Support Center and later to Mykolaiv to undergo a military medical examination.
The lyceum claims that the medical examination lasted about 40 minutes, despite the director’s chronic health conditions. It is also noted that the military medical commission’s report included test results for tests he allegedly did not undergo. Afterward, Artem Kiyanovsky was sent to a military unit.
