Six teenagers were injured in a fire that broke out last night in the Doroshiv community. The incident occurred in the village of Shevchenko, and rescuers and doctors were working at the scene.

This was reported by the State Emergency Service in Mykolaiv region.

The incident occurred as a result of an accident during the preparation for the holiday. Five teenagers gathered at a friend's house in the village of Shevchenko to prepare his grandmother's house for a birthday party. Since no one was living in the house at the time, the boys decided to heat the stove themselves. However, the situation quickly got out of hand: a spark from the fire hit a nearby gasoline bottle.

This provoked an instantaneous outbreak of a gas-air mixture, causing all six people present to suffer burns. The victims managed to run out into the yard and call a neighbor for help, who called the emergency services and notified their parents. All the boys, including four born in 2009 and two born in 2011, were hospitalized with burns of varying degrees. Rescuers of the State Emergency Service together with the local fire department of the village of Shcherbani eliminated the fire over an area of 50 square meters, involving 8 firefighters and 2 units of equipment.

Earlier, the State Emergency Service reported that due to intense snowmelt and rainfall in Mykolaiv region, settlements are flooding. Due to the deterioration of weather conditions, flooding was recorded in seven communities in Pervomaisky, Voznesensky and Bashtansky districts. The most difficult situation is currently in the village of Kumari.

In total, the Rescue Service received 23 reports of flooding of 49 household plots. Rescuers, utility companies and local fire brigades are currently working to pump out the water.

As of now, yards and residential buildings in the village of Kumari in the Kamianomostiv community remain flooded. A reinforced group has been deployed there: 13 rescuers are working there, special equipment of the State Emergency Service and equipment of a private company are involved. The rescuers continue to monitor the situation in the region and urge citizens to seek help promptly if the situation worsens.
