An earthquake with a magnitude of 2.9 was recorded in the Black Sea. The tremors occurred at a distance of about 118 kilometers from Feodosia.
This is reported by Krym.Realii with reference to the European Seismological Center.
According to the European Seismological Center, the epicenter was located at a depth of 10 kilometers. The earthquake occurred at 23:26 local time.
There is currently no information on damage or casualties.
Experts note that the Crimean peninsula remains a seismically active zone. The region is located on the periphery of the Alpine-Himalayan fold belt, where periodic aftershocks of varying strength are recorded.
In particular, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 was recorded near Kerch, and tremors with a magnitude of more than 4 points were recorded near Sevastopol. In 2024, a more powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 also occurred in the southwestern part of the Black Sea.
Experts emphasize that such weak earthquakes usually do not pose a threat, but confirm the overall seismic activity in the region.
As a reminder, in 2026, the occupiers restricted visits to the natural areas of the Kerch Peninsula in the temporarily occupied Crimea. These are the Oputsky Nature Reserve and Kazantip Nature Reserve, which will remain closed to tourists.
As Intent wrote, in the temporarily occupied Crimea, the consequences of a strike on a strategic object - the "Sea Oil Terminal" were recorded.
On the evening of April 7 and on the night of April 8, a series of explosions occurred in the temporarily occupied Crimea. In particular, an explosion was reported near Simferopol at about 21:50, after which a fighter jet was taken off from the Belbek airfield. Eyewitnesses also reported several waves of UAVs, shooting, and new explosions in different parts of the peninsula.
The most resonant was the information about a possible strike on an oil depot in Feodosia. According to sources, at about 01:00, after at least three drones flew overhead, an explosion occurred and a fire broke out on the territory of the Sea Oil Terminal JSC.
Also, in the evening of April 4 and at night of April 5, explosions were heard in occupied Sevastopol and other areas of Crimea, and Russian air defense was operating. Since the beginning of the full-scale war in 2022, Crimea has been regularly attacked by drones and missiles, but the Russian authorities usually do not confirm possible hits on military facilities.
