The Tatarbunary District Court of Odesa Oblast found a resident of the village of Diviziya guilty of unauthorized occupation of a land plot in a protected area and sentenced him to two years in prison, with one year of probation.

As stated in the court' s verdict, he was also fined UAH 75,000 for damaging the environment.

On July 1, 2025, the convict illegally occupied a 0.6 hectare plot located within the water protection zone and coastal protection strip of the Khadjider River on the southwestern outskirts of the village of Diviziya without permission. This territory has the status of a water protection and protection zone. The man installed a fence and set up a summer camp for cattle grazing on the illegally occupied land, which is prohibited by land and water legislation.

In June of the same year, employees of the Tuzly Estuaries National Park reported finding a fence in which sheep were kept, which they believed was illegally occupying a section of the park. At the time, the park complained that this was not the first time that livestock grazing areas had been seized. Cases were recorded in 2018 and 2020.

Also in 2025, the police served a notice of suspicion to a resident of the Bolhrad district of Odesa region of unauthorized occupation of a land plot in a protected area - the man plowed and sowed land along the coastal protection zone of the Kogylnyk River in the Bessarabian community for further profit. It happened in the spring when the man, without the appropriate permits, illegally plowed a 0.4-hectare plot of land with his own equipment and illegally sowed corn on it, hoping to make a profit from its sale.
