Odesa residents asked not to turn off water in case of freezing

A subsidiary of the Renaissance 92 Housing Management Company has posted notices on the doors of entrances in Odesa calling for water to be left running when the temperature drops.

In particular, weather forecaster Natalia Didenko said that a powerful anticyclone will cover Ukraine on January 30 and displace heat and moisture. According to the scientist, the peak of frost, according to preliminary forecasts, will be on February 1-3, with night temperatures of 15-24 degrees Celsius, possibly even lower in the northern part of the country.
As Intent has found out, such a precautionary measure as leaving the water running, ie. constantly on during a drop in temperature, is indeed used to protect pipes from freezing and bursting.
However, Infoksvodokanal was skeptical of this call. In particular, the representatives of the water supply company wondered who would pay for the water that would constantly flow out of the taps and wind up the meters accordingly.
"It all depends on the house. The main networks are deep underground, so as a rule, everything should be fine. And in-house networks in basements shouldn't either. But there are different systems, perhaps they have a pipe running through an open area?" commented Intanta at Infoxvodokanal.
On January 31 - February 1, cold air will spread almost everywhere. In early February, cold or very cold weather will prevail everywhere.
