Odesa region ranked third in Ukraine in terms of the number of children adopted in 2025, behind only Dnipro and Kyiv regions.
According to analysts of the Opendatabot platform, 101 children were adopted in Odesa region, 136 children in Dnipro region, and 122 children in Kyiv region.
At the same time, Dnipropetrovs'k region has the largest number of orphans and children without parental care - 7,397 children. Overall, by the end of 2025, 59,350 orphans and children deprived of parental care were registered in Ukraine. This is 4% less than in 2024. In general, the number of such children decreases by an average of 3% every year.
One third of all these children - 20,700 children - are orphans, that is, those who have lost both parents. Other children are deprived of parental care for various reasons, and not all of them can be legally adopted.

Analysts noted that the number of people who want to adopt a child is increasing every year. However, 2025 was an exception: the number of candidates decreased by 13% over the year. A total of 2,977 candidates for adoption have been registered in Ukraine so far. 77% of them, or 1,619 adoptive parents, are married couples. However, there are still 479 single citizens who want to take care of a child.
Almost half of all candidates are aged 40 to 50. Another 41% are under 40, and only 10% are over 50. The majority of candidates live in Kyiv (244) and Kyiv region (224). There are also many adoptive parents in Lviv and Dnipropetrovs'k regions - 191 and 182 candidates respectively.
Despite this, the number of adoptions decreased in 2025. Thus, 1,150 children found new families last year. This is 10% less than in 2024, when a record number of children were adopted since the start of the full-scale program - 1,273 children.
