The mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Senkevych, has announced the final stage of the competition for the position of the head of Mykolaivvodokanal. The competition commission has selected three candidates from the initial 19 applicants.

He made the announcement in an interview withthe Mart shopping center.

Mr. Senkevych said that the competition for the position of the head of Mykolaivvodokanal is being held with the support of the European Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI). To make the process as transparent as possible, a professional HR agency was involved in the selection process.

Out of 19 applicants, the Supervisory Board has already selected three leaders. Since the position involves access to strategic data and classified information, the candidates are currently being checked by law enforcement agencies.

The mayor noted that after receiving the results of the security filter, one of the three finalists will be offered to lead the company. The appointment is expected to be finalized in January or February 2026.

The competition was announced in November 2024 after the death of the previous director, Borys Dudenko, who had been running the water utility for almost a decade.

"Mykolaivvodokanal may receive UAH 695 million from the community budget and a new version of the charter. At the city council session, they planned to consider a project to expand the company's activities.

The Mykolaiv City Council has approved a new version of the charter of the municipal utility Mykolaivvodokanal and plans to decide to increase its authorized capital by UAH 695.9 million. These funds will be allocated from the budget of the city's territorial community. After the amendments are made, the total authorized capital of the company will reach over UAH 2.1 billion.

According to the document, this decision was made to bring the documentation in line with the current legislation and to implement previous decisions of the city council on the formation of the company's supervisory board. At the end of May, the members of Mykolaiv City Council approved the composition of the Supervisory Board. It includes three independent members elected through an open competition, as well as two representatives of the city authorities.
