The Kherson Oblast Prosecutor's Office has publicly denied the Association of Ukrainian Cities' allegations of systemic pressure on local governments, emphasizing that large-scale budgetary abuses have been detected in the region. According to official data, since 2023, law enforcement officers have brought cases against 26 people to court, and the total amount of prevented losses to the state and communities has reached more than UAH 2.5 billion.

This became known on the website of the Prosecutor's Office.

The most impressive example of preventive work was a contract for the maintenance of regional roads. After the intervention of prosecutors, the cost of one of the contracts was reduced from almost UAH 2 billion to UAH 34.7 million. The agency notes that most of their actions result in the elimination of violations directly by the spending units.

At the same time, law enforcement officers disclosed details of criminal proceedings that have already reached the court. These include the case of misappropriation of UAH 28.4 million during the reconstruction of a museum in Kherson and the supply of ten reinforced concrete shelters that did not meet technical requirements for UAH 3.86 million. The head of a city council department, whose negligence caused the cost of security structures to be overestimated by UAH 1.28 million, will also be brought to trial.

The prosecutor's office emphasizes that they act exclusively within the law, and that registration of proceedings and notifications of suspicion occur only if there are reasonable grounds. Thus, the agency rejected accusations of obstructing the work of military administrations, emphasizing that protecting the budget in times of war is a priority.
