A video has surfaced online showing footage of a student from a vocational school in the Odesa region being beaten. Police reported that no complaint regarding the incident has been filed yet, but law enforcement officials have already launched an investigation.
The video was shared on social media on October 8.
Police arrived at the school and determined that the incident occurred several hours before the footage was posted online. The altercation took place during a computer science class between a 47-year-old teacher and a 15-year-old student.
Law enforcement officials are currently interviewing those involved and witnesses to the incident. Once all the circumstances have been established, a decision will be made regarding the legal classification of the incident and whether to enter the information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations.

Oleksandr Lonchak, director of the Odesa Regional State Administration’s Department of Education and Science , commented onthe situation . He noted that he had already contacted the school’s principal and discussed the matter.
“My position is unequivocal: a person who engages in such behavior toward a student has no place in the education system. He has already been dismissed from his position. At the same time, determining the extent of responsibility for the act falls under the jurisdiction of law enforcement agencies. And here, a proper legal assessment of all the circumstances of the incident must be made,” Lonchak wrote on social media.
He also noted that the teaching profession calls for other ways of responding.
