A court sentenced a resident of the Kherson region in absentia to 10 years in prison. He had headed the occupation administration of the Ivanivska community and, according to the prosecutor’s office, pressured local officials to cooperate with the Russian Federation. He was also ordered to have his property confiscated.
This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, in September 2022, the 43-year-old man voluntarily assumed the position of the so-called “head of the Ivanivka Military-Civil Administration of the Kherson Region” in the occupied territory of the Henichesk District.
After his appointment, he organized a staged distribution of humanitarian aid to local residents in front of propaganda media cameras. The videos were shared on social media to create a positive image of the occupying authorities.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the man persuaded officials, hospital administrators, tax authorities, and other community institutions to cooperate with Russia.
In addition, he organized the forced expropriation of private property for the benefit of Russia. According to eyewitness testimony in court, the occupation official appropriated land plots, equipment, storage facilities, and livestock, threatening local residents with physical violence. He moved between populated areas accompanied by armed Russian soldiers.
The court found the man guilty of collaboration under Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In addition to a 10-year prison sentence with confiscation of property, he was barred for 15 years from holding positions or engaging in activities related to organizational, managerial, administrative, or economic functions.
The verdict was handed down in absentia. The convicted man will serve his prison term following his actual arrest. A special pretrial investigation was conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) office in the Kherson region.
